Life is a Song, SING IT!!!

I love great quotes and would adore having a few of them framed and hanging on my walls. This got me thinking and my mojo kicked up a gear. Hi everyone Erika Taylor here today to share with you a card I created using the Spooky Iron Shelf and Potion Bottle Mini dies from the Scrapping Cottage.

I wanted to show you today how easy it is to use some of the holiday dies for different occasions. For the Shelf; I embossed it with a wrought iron embossing powder to give it an antique feel. The Potion bottle is colored with a bit of Faber Castell Metallic Pitt Pens. I paired the dies up with some beautiful Websters Pages papers and a stamp from Unity Stamps. This is piece that I came up with. And to think, I used Halloween dies. Whodda Thunk!!!

Hope you enjoy.

Try using holiday dies for other occasions. The possibilities are truly endless. Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you all have a fantastic week.

Until next time

Made with Love

There is something so special about gifts made with love. That little extra thought that goes in to make something perfect. The heart that one used to create it and the time that someone selflessly put into it. Yup, I'm a big fan of homemade gifts.

Hi everyone, Erika Taylor here today to share with you a card I created using some wonderful papers from My Little Shoebox and the Sewing Notions Die Cut . I added a little pleated ribbon, twine and buttons to finish the card off and I know exactly who I'll be sending this one to.

I'm absolutely adoring that little spool and could a pin cushion get any cuter? I think not. Well, I'm off to do some more creating, so I hope you all have a fantastic Tuesday. Until next time

Happy Haunting

Fall is definitely here and with that comes thought of Halloween and Haunting. I'm a huge fan of Halloween so when I saw these new dies from Cottage Cutz, I knew that I'd end up getting all of them. From haunted houses to pumpkins, lanterns to witches, these dies are perfect to personalize any of your Hallween crafts.

Hi everyone, Erika Taylor here today to share with you a "spook"tacular card using the Haunted House Border die. I love the detail in this set and wanted to create a background scene for the little My Little Shoebox bats. I die cut the images from some great Mica Metallic Paper from Paper Temptress to give a little sparkle to the card. Hauntingly delish right?

Isn't that Haunted House beyond amazing??? Love Love Love it!!! Not only can it be used as a border, but you can create great scenes with it. I love versatility when it comes to dies, and Cottage Cutz dies give so much of that. If you haven't seen the Halloween dies yet, make sure you take a look. Also I see some fantastic Christmas ones as well that are simply stunning.

Thanks so much for stopping in today. Make sure you leave a comment with all of the projects on the blog. We love to hear what you have to say.

Friends and My Little Shoebox Dies

There are "sew" many great products on the market using sewing machines, spools and stitching. From papers to embellishments and everything in between. One of my favorites is the sweet Sewing Machine and Dress Form die from Cottage Cutz. This little 4 x 4 die is perfect for all those crafty friends occasions. The detail is amazing and super fun to embellish just how you see fit.

Hi Everyone, Erika Taylor here today to share with you a card I created using the Sewing Machine and Dress Form My Little Shoebox die. I absolutely love the little spools that come with this die and had to add a few extras around the sentiment. I topped it off with a few pearls and some Stickles to give it a little extra OOOMPH. Not that this sweet die needs it. So without further adieu...

A little distressing on the edges of this card go perfectly with the quilt like placement of the My Little Shoebox papers. What do you think? Super sweet right? If you haven't taken a look at the Dies that go with your My Little Shoebox collections, take a look. There are so many beautiful ones to choose from.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Make sure you leave a comment and let me know what you think. All of us really appreciate your comments. Until next time

Spooky Treats Card

I absolutely love Halloween. Have since I was a little girl and nothing has changed. The costumes, the candy and the decorations are simply "Boo"tiful!!! Hi everyone, Erika Taylor here today to share with you a little Halloween card I created. If you haven't seen Spooky Treats before, you just have to take a look.

For this card I used the tombstone from the Spooky Treats die set. First I cut it out in black card stock. then a second one was cut out using white card stock. I applied Versamark to the white tombstone and embossed with a great Antique Pewter embossing powder to give it a more realistic feel. I love that the Cottage Cutz dies can be altered using embossing powders. Here she is...

Just so the tombstone wasn't floating, I added some fringed grass to anchor it. The little R.I.P letters are also a part of the Spooky Treats die, which I added a little Stickles to so they would POP. If you want to see a larger photo, just click on the photo itself to see the details.

Speaking of Halloween, have you seen the new Halloween dies that have just been released? Holy Doodles BATMAN!!!! I'm gonna need one of everything. Over the next while, I think I'm going to create some more Halloween goodies for all of you, so if there is something in particular you'd like to see, just leave a comment and let me know.

Until next time

It's a Party!!!

I love the carnival. So many wonderful memories growing up and now we are making new memories with our children. Hi everyone, Erika Taylor here today to share with you a sweet birthday card using the Boardwalk Carnival Silhouette die. For this card I decided to create a shadow by cutting the first die in black, then the second with a polka dot patterned paper. Offsetting them slightly, to create the shadow effect. Isn't that cute??? These little dies are truly a joy to work with and so easy to use.

So lets take a look at my little birthday card inspired by the carnival. Hope you like it

Try your hand at creating shadows by doubling up your die cuts from Cottage Cutz. It really adds a dimension and is perfect for every occasion. Thanks so much for stopping by today. Make sure you leave a comment and let me know what you think. Until next time

Orchids and Carousels Oh My!!!

Hello everyone and thanks for stopping by the Cottage Cutz blog today. I'm Erika Taylor and this is my first post as one of the new design team members. I'm so excited about using the Cottage Cutz dies, and I hope that I can inspire you to use them too. Please leave a comment and let me know what you think and if there are any particular types of projects you would like me to create for the blog.

Today I have 2 projects to share with you The first project uses the 4 x 4 Orchid Flower Die. I love the layers that this die has and it works so wonderfully well with patterned papers. I created two of these little orchids for the first card. I also added a little glitter to each of them for that extra "KAPOW" factor hehe

Next is a super sweet card using the amazing Carousel Horse die. I think this is one of the sweetest dies I've ever seen. Again, I used patterned papers from Nikki Sivils and some glitter to really make the pole stand out. Easy Peasy!!!

If you haven't tried the Cottage Cutz dies before, you should really take a boo at all the different dies available. You will be blown away I guarantee. Thank you so so very much for stopping by today. I hope that you have a fantastic rest of your week. Happy cutting!!!

Crazy Canuck Alert

Hi Everyone, Erika Taylor here today to share a little about me. First off, I'm super excited to be a part of the Scrapping Cottage design team and I'm so looking forward to working with the entire team, many I've had the pleasure of working with before.

A novel about me...got your morning coffee ready?

I'm a stay at home mom to two very special children. Our little boy is 6 and is filled with wonder, creativity and love. A true gift in every sense with a heart as big as Texas I'm certain. Then we have our little girl of just about 4, who adds to my happy days with her silly sense of humor, love for anything with wings or petals or sparkle and her soft tender soul. I've been married to the handsomest of men Mark, who is a Petroleum Engineer, for 6 years and we currently reside in Southern Alberta.

I've been crafting since I was little and I'm sure my first love was construction paper or Play-doh. About 3 years ago I started crafting cards and now I'm hook line and sinker for so many crafts. Paper crafts, mixed media, altered art and jewelry are the big ones. I love to layer and distress and a little blingage can be found on almost every project.

I'm fortunate to be on quite a few design teams. From Tattered Angels, Nikki Sivils, Basically Bare and Helmar. Now I'm adding a new adventure to the mix. I adore Tiramisu, Italian Sweet Cream and my moms lasagna. I'm a romantic through and through and love poetry and beautiful works of art. I'm most comfortable in a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, although I've got a shoe "thang".

I have always been drawn to mythical things. From King Arthur to Griffins. I collect fairies and my favorite insect is the butterfly. I'm a Twihard and am counting down days until the Breaking Dawn release. My favorite color is Pink and I adore a good Malbec or Merlot.

I can't wait to start sharing my Scrapping Cottage projects with all of you and I hope that you stop by my blog and take a look at what I create on a regular basis. So when you see my name here on the blog, just remember the crazy haired Canadian.

Until next time
