Birthday Lion with Balloon

Hello CottageCutz fans! Thanks for taking the time to visit with The Scrapping Cottage Blog. It's Mary Marsh here with the Sunday edition of the Blog. For my sample card today, I am featuring the super cute baby lion die as well as the balloon round mini die. This one is out of stock right now but here is another balloon variety die that would work well.

Using these dies together creates a really sweet birthday card for a child. It's another way to use the lion die other than on a baby card. Let's get started with some details on how I put this one together.

cardstock and patterned paper sizes:
purple card base measures 4 1/4" x 11" and scored at 5 1/2"
chevron patterned paper measures 4 1/8" x 4"
mustard pattern panel measures 4 1/8" x 1 3/8"
blue circle is 4th smallest from the circle set (basics)
purple circle is the 3rd largest from the circle set (basics)

To assemble my card I used double sided tape, glue dots and dimensional adhesive. I taped the 2 patterned papers together and to cover the seam of where they meet, I added a mustard shade of ribbon. Secured the ribbon with glue dots on the back panel.

My next step was to die cut the lion. I used a lighter yellow for his body and the mane in a mustard shade. I took a mustard marker to add some definition to his legs and whiskers. Using dimensional adhesive I placed him on the blue die cut circle and attached the balloon to his tail.

Next up is the half circle I placed under the ribbon. This was cut from the circle basics set. I used the 3rd largest die and just cut it in half.
I used this circle layer for my sentiment. I have a birthday stamp with this HB2U sentiment.  Something different and perfect for a child's card. Stamped with a mustard ink and used a small circle punch and punched out the letters and placed them along the curve of the circle.

Ta-Da! Card is complete and ready for the next time I need a child or even a masculine birthday card. That's it for me for today. So until next time.......inky hugs!!!

It's Your Day

Hello Cottage Cutz Fans! It's Mary Marsh here and I am so excited to be sharing my first post on the blog. I am starting off my term with a masculine birthday card. We all need cards for the guys in our lives and balloon cards are always a winner.

I am using the round mini balloon die for this sample. Looks like this die is out of stock right now, but check out this cute balloon variety die that would work as well. So let's get started with the details of how to make this card.

cardstock and patterned paper sizes:
red cardstock base measures 4 1/4" x 11" and scored at 5 1/2".
striped patterned paper layer is 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
embossed yellow layer is 3 3/8" x 4 5/8"
dotted patterned paper is 3 1/8" x 4 3/8"
image panel is 1 7/8" x 3 1/8" and red layering panel is 2 1/8" x 3 3/8"

I used double sided tape to secure my panels. The dotted patterned paper is placed on an angle for some card interest. Before the image panel was secured, I added some red burlap ribbon and then some red and white bakers twine over that.

Made a mini bow from the same bakers twine and added a sequin center. Even though I am using ribbon on a masculine card, it's burlap and has a masculine appeal to it. Bakers twine is not feminine or frilly so that's ok also.

On the yellow embossed panel, I used a birthday words embossing folder.

For the image panel, I die cut the balloons in red, yellow and blue to match the colors in the patterned paper. I sponged the edges of the paper with the corresponding inks to give some depth. Stamped the "it's your day" sentiment and added some red sequins to complete my card.

I hope this card gave you some inspiration to make a masculine card using these super cute balloon dies. That's it for me for today. So until next time.............inky hugs!

Baby Hippo

Happy Saturday!

It's time for me to share a little inspiration using a couple of the cute CottageCutz Dies from The Scrapping Cottage!  This time I'm using Baby Hippo from the new Baby Release and Round Mini Balloons Dies!

Isn't this little guy too cute?  I love the little teeth sticking out!  Here's a little close up for you!

The card base is made with Going Gray card stock.  The white mat was stamped with the sentiment, I then added the blue designer paper that was embossed with a folder to the top portion and then some repurposed ribbon across.  The Baby Hippo and balloons were cut using white, plum, and Going Gray card stocks and assembled together inking the edges of the hippo with Gray Flannel Ink.  I used a black marker and white gel pen for the eyes.  All the pieces were added using pop dots. I then added buttons and fiber bows.

These are the dies I used:

Hedgehog Gift Card Holder

Happy Tuesday everyone!

I have a quick post today with an adorable Hedgehog Gift Card Holder!  Wouldn't this be perfect for a boy's birthday gift?

I used the Large Confectionery Bag to make the pocket using Sports Mat Pad (K & Co) that is double sided with the orange on the inside.  The tag is the Fancy Insert Tag die cut with blue card stock.  I decorated it with the adorable Hedgehog Mini and Round Mini Balloons using scraps of black, browns, yellow, and orange card stock.  The sentiment is Teeny Tiny Wishes from Stampin' Up.  I inked the edges of the tag and all the die cut pieces with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and used Natural Jute from Really Reasonable Ribbon for tie on the tag.

Here's a photo of it inside the holder.
